Yeah I know, that is not the best picture of me (the one to the right) but oh well you can't win them all right ;) anyways the photo doesnt matter, but the article does. Me and my classmate Signe, were interviewed for the local newspaper as we had been in charge of an "Angel Tree"
The activity (when, where and what):
At my school, there has been a long tradition of having a so called "Angel Tree." An angel tree, is a normal christmas tree but the only decorations that are on it are angels. On each angel there is a gender and an age written, for example boy age 16 or girl age 10. All the students and teacher can then chose one or more of the angels and buy a present that they think is fitting for their specific angel. On the last day of school, all the presents have to be turned into us and we then donate them too the Red Cross. This was one of my short term activities and one of the most rewarding activities I have done.

What did I plan to do?
My goal with this activity was to be able to help people less fortunate get a wonderful Christmas. It is very difficult as a child to come to school after Christmas and listen to all the presents others got if you didn't get any. Therefore i loved the idea of collecting gifts and donating them. I just wished I could have been able to see the reactions of the children that received the presents.

What did I actually do?
What were the outcomes for me or the team I was working
with?
I learned on a whole other level, the joy of giving without expecting anything in return. I loved given presents before this project, I have always loved finding the perfect gift the the people I love, I don't need something in return but deep down I know that of course I will also get a present from them. However this time I knew that I would get nothing in return, I wouldn't even know if the presents I had bough for the two "angels" i chose would make them happy. All I got was an enormous satisfaction and feeling of pride that I had seldom experience prior to this activity. I also know that my team members Signe and Annemette had a similar experience, and that the three of us will always be grateful that we got to have this experience

What were the outocmes for the other people involved
Since we did not deliver the presents to the families ourself I cannot be entirely sure of the exact outcome, but I believe and hope that all the children were very happy to receive this present. They will know that people care about them and their lives, people they don't even know have chosen to donate a a present to them so that they could have a wonderful Christmas. I have no doubt that many children will be very grateful and will have had an even better Christmas with the reinsurance that people care about them in mind.
